HPV Catch-Up Vaccinations (2025/26)
Protect yourself against cancers caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV). If you missed your HPV vaccination at school, you may still be eligible for a free catch-up vaccine through the NHS.
Book your appointment (Saturday clinics)
Our HPV catch-up clinics are invite only. If you are eligible, you will be sent a text or email with a booking link to book directly into a Saturday nurse appointment.
If you are unable to use the booking link, or you have not received an invite but believe you should have, please call the surgery and our team will help.
Who is eligible?
- Most young people up to their 25th birthday who missed the HPV vaccine at school.
- Boys and girls who were offered HPV in Year 8 (age 12–13) but did not receive it then.
- Some people at higher risk, including:
- Certain men who have sex with men
- Some transgender people
- Those with specific health conditions (your clinician will advise)

How many doses do I need?
- For most people under 25, just one dose is needed.
- Some higher-risk groups may need more than one dose — our nurse will confirm what’s right for you.
About the HPV vaccine
- Protects against the types of HPV that cause most cervical cancers.
- Also protects against some anal, penile, head and neck cancers, and genital warts.
- Given as a quick injection in the upper arm.
- Can be given at the same time as other vaccines.
- Safe, effective, and free on the NHS.
Why it matters
HPV vaccination helps prevent future cancers. By increasing uptake now, we’re working towards the goal of eliminating cervical cancer in England by 2040.

Frequently asked questions
Is the HPV vaccine safe?
Yes. It has an excellent safety record worldwide. Most side effects are mild and short-lived.
Do I still need cervical screening (smear tests)?
Yes. If you have a cervix, you should still attend screening when invited — even if you’ve had the HPV vaccine.
I’m 25 or older — can I still get it?
Routine catch-up is available until your 25th birthday. Some higher-risk groups may still be eligible — speak to us for advice.
What if I had one dose before?
We’ll check your records and advise if you’re already fully protected or need another dose.
